1 Day + $30K = 93,000 Days of Education

Impacting 4,800 Children

My name is Rebecca Rueschhoff, I am 16 years old and launching my first project for the new organization I created called Giving Goggles.

This has been on my mind and heart for the last year, and it is so exciting to jump in and start out with such an amazing project.

I decided it was time to take action and get started on my dream and vision to make a difference.

I have decided to kick it off with a huge project that will impact thousands of children!

I will need your help, so let me share a little bit more about why I want to raise $30,000 in 3 days and

how it will impact the lives of 4,800 children.

Why I Want to Support Pencils of Promise and Facts You Need To Know

  • 1 in 5 people in the world can’t read and write
  • 75 million children do not have access to pre-school education
  • A child is more likely to live past the age of 5 if his or her mother has had a basic education.
  • The more education a child has, the more income he or she will have in the future, thereby breaking the cycle of poverty.
  • It all started with just $25 and a dream to build one school and in just 2 years.
  • They have established 23 schools between Laos, Nicaragua and Guatemala, and have a goal to build 30 schools in 2011

Why Pencils of Promise is different…

  • They don’t give handouts – they work together to empower children and adults in each community, in particular females, by increasing access to education and building permanent and successful schools.
  • They believe even something as simple as handing a child a pencil is an important act that can transform a life.
  • They are proud to be led by young individuals who want to change the world for the better.

Why the Urgency for $30K in 3 Days

Pencils of Promise is having a contest, and the person that raises the most money will have Justin Bieber and Pencils of Promise Founder, Adam Braun, come to a school of their choice. It would be amazing to bring these leaders into my community, not because he is a pop star but because he is a tremendous example on giving back.

His “Never Say Never” story is motivational and inspirational.

Adam Braun’s story is equally inspiring: you can do anything you want if you put your mind to it, and when you focus on doing good things it just makes you a better person and makes the world a better place. Our young people need these kinds of influences.

You can click on this link to read more about why they are a big part of how Giving Goggles became a reality.

Pencils of Promise is a community of passionate, young individuals who believe every person, regardless of age, ability or money, has the potential to do good in this world.

“One person can make a change,

only together can we change the world!”

~ Pencils of Promise

I know that my goal to raise $30K in 3 days may sound a bit crazy for my first project, but I don’t think it is…I absolutely believe that we will reach this goal.

Let me show you why I believe that we can do this, I figured out a few possibilities and it shows how easy this goal can become a reality over the next 3 days

  • If 3,000 people gave $10 – We Can Do It!
  • If 1,200 people gave $25 – We Can Do It!
  • If 600 people gave $50 – We Can Do It!

I get excited when I look at how all those small actions can make such a huge difference when you put it all together!

I know many of you probably already give to different non-profits, but really how easy is it for us to blow $10 – $50 on something and not even remember how we spent itWouldn’t it be awesome to be able to say to yourself, “Oh Yeah! I gave that $50 so that children couldget their first pencil, go to a newly built school and get an education so that they can equip and empower themselves to have a better life!”

I also understand that some people don’t have a lot of extra money in their budget. So you might be thinking to yourself “I’m broke, no way I could give anything…” and while your drinking your “fancy” coffee you stopped to get this morning you might decide to overlook this opportunity to help. I hope you don’t think it is rude to ask, but do you think you could skip a few of the “fancy” coffees this week and give these children an opportunity to learn? I promise this is much better for you than the caffeine :) .”

I know some of you are young like me and don’t have a job and would love to help but don’t think you can. “Maybe you could do an extra chore for your parents to earn $10 to give to help these kids or ask a neighbor if they need help with something then commit to giving at least $10 of what you earn to help build these new schools…#JustSayin

I know none of us like to do extra chores but maybe it will be easier if you know you are doing it to #MakeaChange.”

OK, now that I have showed you we can do this – if everyone gives a little it will lead to a BIG Difference!

Here is what we need to do…

I will ask you and my people to give $10 and

you can give $10 and ask your people to give $10 and

ask them to ask their peopel to give $10

Together We Can Make A Huge Difference
And, inspire other young people to get involved in
amazing projects like Pencils of Promise.>

Remember it will only take $10 from 3,000 people

or $25 from 1,200 people – that’s it!

Click on the donate button and then tell your friends, family,
customers, share it on facebook, tweet about it…

Help spread the word!

Let’s Make a Difference Together!

STOP! If you are thinking…

Oh, I’m sure plenty of people will jump in to help out, if I don’t give anything it won’t matter.”

Because, I do need you! I can’t do it without you!

Thank you for doing this with me and making it possible to

positively impact the lives of 4,800 children!
